(a) IN GENERAL - Not later than the first day of the school year beginning after June 30, 2006, each local education agency participating in a program authorized by the Richard B. 14. LWP in simple(r) words Every school district that participates in the federal school meals program must have a wellness policy. The school district policies must address nutrition, physical activity, and “student wellness.” Local school wellness policies should involve STUDENTS (and some other people) Since wellness policies are LOCAL, Congress has created the potential to engage the entire community in issues of nutrition and health.
