3. Positions 3 Positions – Flat attack – Jockey – Defence

4. Positions Split 4 groups Flat attack/Jockey/Defence/Lineouts – Describe – When to use it – Positives – Negatives – 3 x phases to show the class

5. Flat attack 80% of game Attacking last feet Primary to secondary Good – See breakdown and control – Arrival – Control D – Easy exit Bad – Caught if go blind – Can only use when between 15m – If too close rush out or caught 2

10. Summary When would/could you use each position ? Flat Attack: It is probably the most common position and great for tackle management when the ball is 'contestable' (especially if play is between the touch line and the 15m). It is also great for managing the offside lines and fringes Jockey: When there is a contest over the ball and the tackle occurs within the 15's. Defensive: When the ball is won and there is no contest over the ball i.e. quick ball or if the breakdown occurs near the goal line. If there is still a contest over the ball and you are in the ‘D’ line – YOU ARE IN THE WRONG POSITION !
