In January 2009, the SAB approved the creation of Pilot Schools within the District based on the Boston Public School Pilot Model Pilot Schools are schools that operate with five areas of autonomy: * Governance * Staffing * Budget * Curriculum and Instruction * School Calendar/Schedule 2/14/20142St. Louis Public Schools

3. Ten elementary schools (Froebel, Henry, Herzog, Hodgen, Laclede, Lexington, Mason, Shenandoah and Woodward) were identified to write proposals for the Pilot School Model. Five schools will be selected based on an evaluation rubric. A recommendation as to which five schools should become conversion Pilot Schools for the 2009-2010 school year will be made to the SAB in May. 2/14/20143St. Louis Public Schools
