2. Direct objects are the people or things in a sentence that receive the action of the verb. To find the direct object in a sentence, ask the question Who? or What? I see Pierre. Je vois Pierre. Who do I see? Pierre. I'm eating the bread Je mange le pain. What am I eating? - Bread.

3. Direct object pronouns are the words that replace the direct object, so that we don't say things like –"Marie was at the bank today. When I saw Marie I smiled." It's much more natural to say –"Marie was at the bank today. When I saw her I smiled."

9. Indirect object pronouns are used to replace a noun that would be introduced with the preposition à. singular plural me / m’ te/ t’ lui nous vous leur - (to) me - (to) you - (to) him/her/it - (to) us - (to) you - (to) them

10. 1. Je donne du café à mon père.  Je lui donne du café. 2. Je parle à Danielle.  Je lui parle. 3. Je donne des bonbons à mes copains.  Je leur donne des bonbons. 4. Eammon parle à Michael. Il lui parle.

12. en Use en to avoid repeating a noun that is introduced with du, de la, de l’ or des 1. Tu as des chiens ? en Oui, j’en ai trois. 2.Tu manges de la viande ? en Oui, j’en mange. en Non, je n’en mange pas ! en Non, je n’en ai pas. 3. Tu manges beaucoup de bonbons ? en Oh oui ! J’en mange trop !

13. y y usually means “there”. y You can use y to avoid repeating the same place : 1.Tu vas à Paris ? y Oui, j’ y vais demain. 2. Comment vas-tu au collège ? y J’y vais à pied /en voiture /en bus.
