Well, the tale of the whale is a whale of a tale: it's a story of the deep blue sea; about a fish and a man named Jonah, who was a lot like you and me.

Well, Jonah was a prophet, you see, (I see,_) and a very fine man was he, (was he,_) but when the Lord said, "Jonah, will you work for me?" he ran from responsibility, (not he?__) yes, he, __ (Oh no, _ Oh my, _ (Oh me!__)

Well, the Lord said, "Jo-nah, I want you to go to a place called Nin-e-veh-town, and tell those people in their evil ways that they better stop foolin' a-round."

Well, Jonah didn't venture to go, (Oh no!__) because he didn't want the people to know, (not know?) because they were the en-e-my of Is-ra-el, and a big, bad, bit-ter foe. (Oh, no __ not he,__) yes he, (Oh no,) Oh my, _ (Oh me!__)

Well, the tale of the whale is a whale of a tale: just listen and you will see how the Lord loves all of his children, and he speaks to you and me! Shoo bee doo bee doo wah! Yeah!

Angels: Jo-nah, Jo-nah, Oh, Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah Jo-nah, Jonah, Oh, Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah the Lord wants you to go to a land of shame and woe to Nin-e-veh in Asyr-i-a and let those people know how to walk in the way of the Lord.

ALL:Jo-nah, Jo-nah, Oh, Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah Jonah the Lord wants you to go to a land of shame and woe to Nin-e-veh in Asyr-i-a and let those people know how to walk in the way of the Lord. 9 Jonah: I got-ta go, I got-ta split, I got-ta move on out, and run as fast as I can, 'cause the Lord wants me to go to Nin-e-veh and be a preacher man. (Oooo) I got-ta go, I got-ta split, I got-ta move on out and run as fast I can. I hate those nasty Nin-e-vites: I won't be their preacher-man.

ALL: He's got-ta go, he's got-ta split, he's got-ta move on out and run as fast as he can 'cause the Lord wants him to go to Nin-e-veh and be a preacher-man. He's got-ta go, he's got-ta split, he's got-ta move on out and run as fast as he can. He hates those nasty Ninevites: he won't be their preacher-man.

It's a sail-or's life for us, not a wor-ry, not a fuss; have you ev-er seen such a hap-py crew? We know who we are and we know what to do: we're at our best when we're sailin’ through the ocean blue.

It's a sail-or's life for us, not a wor-ry, not a fuss. We start out sail-in' in the morn-in' sun And work all day till the work is done, and then we shuffle to shore and have some fun; But a sail-or's life is not for ev-'ry-one.

Captain: It's a sailor's life for us, not a worry, not a fuss. A sailor's life is not in vain, completely free from stress & strain. The only time we do complain is when it rains.

All: It's a sail-or's life for us, not a worry, not a fuss. With a Yo! and a Heave! and Ho-ho-ho! You nev-er know when the wind will blow, but that does - n't mat-ter 'cause we can al-ways row.

Oh, a sail-or's life (whistling) is the on-ly life, (whistling) yes, a sail-or's life (whistling) is the on-ly life, (whistling) hey, a sail-or's life.....is the on-ly life for us.

Girls: And then along came the wind, And then along came the rain, And then along came the waves. The Lord had sent a storm! Sailors: Wha-dda we do, whad-da we do? This ain’t the friendly ocean blue, We’re gonna die, we’re gonna die, What’s the cause, why, why, why? 2 1 Jonah: I’m the man. I’m the man running away from God’s command; It must be me. it must be me. Throw me into the sea. 3

Sailors: We say No, we say No, What we’ll do is row, row, row. Head for shore, head for shore, Or we’re doomed for-ev-er-more 1 Jonah: No you’re not, no you’re not, It’s my fault we’re in this spot Throw me out, throw me out, God will save you, there’s no doubt! 2 Sailors: Over you go, over you go, Into the water down below; Oh dear Lord, Jonah is no longer aboard! Whew! 3

And then along came a whale, * * * * a big bossy whale, Swimmin’ in the water eatin’ ev’ry-thing in sight, Just slippin’ and a slidin’ all the day and night. Such a wonderful whale, * * * * An astonishing whale, Sent by the Lord to serve his heavenly plan; The whale opened his mouth * * * * And swallowed a man,

Yes Lord, I’m a little bit afraid; No, Lord, make that very much afraid. Do you think it might be possible that your servant Jonah could be saved?

All: Jonah prayed to the Lord, Jonah called to the Lord in his fear. Jonah pleaded with the Lord for mercy: Jonah cried, “Oh Lord, please hear!” And then God spoke to Jonah, “Look inside your soul and hear: When you pray to the Lord, then I am near.”

Jonah: Dear Lord, I’m a little bit alone. Oh Lord, I’m a little bit lonely. It’s rather damp, it’s aw-f’lly chilly, it makes me hurt; could I go home?
