Patent Information Centre (PIC) –Kolkata (W.B.)  The first State level facility to provide Patent & IPR related service was set up in Kolkata in collaboration with PFC - TIFAC  Inaugurated in September 1997 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal.  PIC Stepped into 3 rd phase during 11 th plan period since 2008. PIC- KOLKATA

Role Played by the State Govt. in facilitating GI Registration Notification published & PIC has been declared as a Nodal agency in respect of GI in the state and shall identify the GI items in consultation with the concerned organisations/associations/line govt. deptts. and individual experts. PIC shall file applications for GI registration on behalf of any association of persons/producers and organisations of the state.
