Carrier consolidation has release significant CapEx investment for networks that had previously been under invested as well to meet State PUC and FCC merger obligations. Examples include Frontier’s acquisition of 5M lines from Verizon and CenturyLink’s acquisition of Qwest. We also see strong market competition from fixed line carriers, cable and wireless carriers to deliver greater speed and availability. Countries around the world have implemented National Broadband Plans and aspirational speed and broadband availability targets to increase global competitiveness and for economic development. In the U.S., the government launched a $7.2B Broadband Stimulus program that is just starting to result in CapEx spending.
