Proposed extention of SEG-D Proposal: Add support for little-endian samples Proposal: Add support for little-endian samples Rationale: Rationale: –Modern acquisition system (and processing systems) mostly use little-endian CPUs –Converting to and from big-endian samples costs a lot of processing time and increases the cost of the systems –Comment: This only really applies to sample formats which maps directly to a CPU data type. Formats like 8015 or 8036 will not benefit much.

Proposed extention of SEG-D Technical proposal: Add new series of sample format codes, e.g. 90xx 9058 = Little-endian 4 byte IEEE float value. Add new series of sample format codes, e.g. 90xx 9058 = Little-endian 4 byte IEEE float value.

Proposed extention of SEG-D Questions: Is this a good idea? Is this a good idea? Can this be done as part of current SEG-D rev 3.0? Or do we need a format update? Can this be done as part of current SEG-D rev 3.0? Or do we need a format update? –The latter requires a longer process
