*Talent 21 Project* By: Maddie Gillespie Water Conservations

~Ancient India Water Conservation~ In ancient India, they worshipped rivers In their ancient Indian literature and religious teachings, water is equated with life, and is held in great veneration. In ancient India, they cared a lot about all of their water.

~Wasting Water Today in the United States~ In the United States, people waste so much water everyday. People waste water by the simplest things. Things we all probably waste water doing is leaving the water running while we are brushing our teeth. Another thing that a lot of people probably don’t think about is watering your plants with left over water we will not drink. If we water our plants with this water, it will save a lot of water and money We will save money because you will not be wasting water dumping it down the sink, you will be using it for something else with a good cause.
4
~My hypothesis~ In my experiment, I was trying to prove that if we water our lawns in the morning or night time, we will save water A lot of people water their lawn in the afternoon When we do this, a lot of the water evaporates before it even gets on the lawn. The water evaporates because of the sun absorbing it. With the water evaporating, again we waste water and money. The money gets wasted because so much of it doesn’t even water the lawn This is when my experiment comes in
5
~Experiment tools~ What I will need… Tea cup, or cup able to hold 8oz. 1 cup measuring cup (holds one full cup of water) Cold water Day light Little table
6
~My Experiment~ In my experiment, I am going to put out a cup of water to prove that water will evaporate during the afternoon The cup I am using weighs 1 pound.( without water) With water, it weighs 1 pound, 8 oz. I am putting the water out in the morning, noon, and night time. In my data, I collected… data, weather, days, results, and information about the cup with the water. ( all information in word documents)
7
~Experiment Plan~ I am going to fill the tea cup with one cup of cold water with my measuring cup and sink. I will leave the cup out in the morning for three hours, then noon for three hours, then again for three hours in the night time. The times are, 10:00- 12:00a.m., 12:00- 2:00 p.m., 2:00- 4:00 p.m. After each one, I will measure how much water evaporated in each time period. I will do this by weighing it After each time period, I will re-fill the cups after measuring them. All of this will prove if I am right about my prediction, or if I am wrong.
8
~My Results/ Conclusions~ With my results, I found and proved that I was right. I found out by all of my information( in word, and excel) and my experiment's results Now that I know that I can save water and money, I will start watering my lawn in these times, morning and night time. In the morning and night, only very little water evaporated In the noon, the most water evaporated This happened because the temperature changes, and is colder during the morning and night.
9
~What I Learned~ With my results I learned how to save water, be more earth friendly, and I am better with the computer I earned to be more earth friendly by saving water, and using it the best way I can I am better with the computer because I did almost everything on the computer for Talent 21. The computer helps with the earth because it doesn’t waste paper, like writing things
10
~Interesting Facts About water~ All living things need water A human can only go 10 full days without water All of the water we drink and use has been on Earth for over millions of years. The water in your cup could have been the rain that rained on Jesus! Our human bodies are 65% water! We all must save water because everything depends on it If the world continues to waste water, by the year of 2025, almost a 3 rd of the fresh water will be gone!
11
~Water Cycle~ The cycle is…..evaporation, condensation, precipitation, & collection Evaporation is when the water gets hot from the sun, and turns into steam or vapor. When it leaves the water, it goes into the air Condensation is sort of like a cold glass of fluid out in the heat, and gets little water droplets on it. When it does this, it turns back into water Precipitation is when the clouds can’t hold anymore water, and drop either hail, snow, or rain. Collection is when the water goes into the ocean or the ground. When it goes in the ground, it helps the plants The cycle soon starts all over again

~Lets save Water!~ Every drop counts …
