ALLCU exists to provide an opportunity:  to discuss problems of mutual interest and their solutions  to keep abreast with new developments and techniques in agricultural and horticultural information with special reference to its organisation, dissemination and exploitation for college members  to see the functioning and operation of specialist libraries and research centres  to establish contacts with colleagues for assistance, co-operation and exchange  to act as a focus and forum for liaison with national and regional specialist information groups.

19.  The Aslib Biosciences Group promotes the exchange of information in the fields of biology, agriculture, medicine and the environment. Group members - librarians, information scientists, researchers and others - represent organisations within academia, government, research, commerce and industry. Group membership therefore offers a network of relevant experience of information management across this field.  The Biosciences Group works actively with other similar specialised groups in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. It is the focal point in the UK for the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) and a Corresponding member of HeLicon (Health Libraries and Information Confederation).
