1 DETAILED ANALYSIS MOCK TEST 5 (2013-14)

2 INTRODUCTION Mock Test 5 follows the CLAT pattern wherein the students are subjected to the same level of difficulty both in terms of question type and level. The mock test comprises of five sections with a total of 200 questions. A student is expected to attempt this test in an actual test like environment wherein he has 120 minutes to complete the test and thus need to schedule his/her time accordingly. 3 ENGLISH  This section was of moderate level of difficulty. The section consisted of:  1 RC Passage (Total 10 questions)  5 questions on Vocabulary - Synonyms  10 questions on Fill in the blanks  5 questions on Idioms – meaning  5 questions on six sentence type Parajumbles  5 questions on Foreign Language phrases – meaning  The various questions are now described in detail:

The questions were a healthy mix of easy and moderately difficult questions. All the questions should have been attempted as the options were based on the details that could be easily inferred from the passage. 11 to 15 Vocabulary - synonyms Moderate Four on five questions should have been attempted. 16 to 25Fill in the blanks Easy- Moderate Most of the questions were of moderate level. Atleast seven on ten questions should have been attempted.

These questions could have been attempted by understanding the mood of the statements and then using process of elimination. Atleast three out of five questions should have been attempted. 31 to 35 Parajumbles - 6 sentence type Moderate- Difficult The questions were a mix of moderate and difficult level. They could have been attempted by finding mandatory pairs. At least three of the five questions should have been attempted. 36 to 40 Foreign Language phrases - meaning Moderate – Difficult At least two out of the five questions should have been attempted.

6 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE This section of MOCK TEST – 5 has 50 questions in all. This test primarily focused on static GK. Out of total 50 questions, which 36 questions were from static GK and 14 questions from current affairs. Static GK was oriented towards geography, general science and technology, economy and history. Overall difficulty level was moderate. Current affairs were mainly based on personality, apart from it questions were also from misc. field. The difficulty level of current affairs was easy to moderate. Further, the final break-up summary can be analyzed with the help of following table:

7 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE NOTE: Question no. 84 in the Question paper reads as: On the basis of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Indian economy ranks _____ largest. (a) First (b) Second (c) Third (d) Fourth The correct answer option is (c) instead of (d) as mentioned in the answer key. Recently, India overtook Japan in the terms of purchasing power parity (PPP), thus becoming the third largest economy of the world. Hence the correct answer is option (c). The same has been rectified.

15 LEGAL APTITUDE This section had 50 questions on Legal Aptitude comprising of both Legal Reasoning as well as Legal Knowledge. The section consisted of: Legal Reasoning (35 questions) Legal Knowledge (15 questions) Overall, the section was of Moderate to Difficult difficulty level. The Legal Reasoning section tested the ability of students to understand and interpret questions with multiple principles and explanations and the combined application of the same to factual matrix to reach the best answer. And, in order to answer the questions based on Legal Knowledge, students were expected to have knowledge of various concepts under Constitutional Law, General Principles of Law and Tort Law. An attempt between the range of 40 - 45 would be considered a good attempt for this section.

16 DETAILS  Legal Reasoning: The Legal Reasoning of Mock 5 was having a difficulty level of significant amount. This section was dominated by questions from Torts and Contracts Law, Criminal Law along with a few questions from Constitutional Law, International Law, Intellectual Property Law, Family Law and General Principles of Law.  An approach of very careful and timely reading of the principles was required.  Legal Knowledge: The Legal Knowledge part of Mock 5 was a mixed bag and contained questions from Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Torts, Family Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Law and other General Principles of law.
