Northern Kentucky Community Health Committee Committee of the Board of Health 25 members Residents: Public and private health care, hospitals, schools, businesses, universities, social service, government, church, and environmental agencies

Purpose of the Community Health Committee Assess the health of the Northern Kentucky community Create and implement a Community Health Plan with collaboration throughout the community

Overall Role of the Community Health Committee Advise, consult with, and make recommendations to the Board of Health. Present the perspective they represent in discussion, balancing those views with a district-wide perspective.

Desired Attributes Commitment to improving the health of the community. Knowledge related to the health problems and community resources. Skills beneficial to the planning process. Willingness to maintain a district-wide perspective. Ability to represent an important perspective, organization, or sector of the district.

Responsibilities 3-year appointment, one possible reappointment Regular quarterly meetings of one to two hours Eight to ten sub-committee or extra meetings per year of one to two hours One to two hours a month for preparation and follow-up Level of participation may vary depending on commitment and ability to provide time

Expanding into MAPP Community Health Committee became MAPP Committee Visioning –Identified a broad-based array of participants and groups to contribute to visioning process –Helped with disseminating surveys and collection of completed surveys Creation of four MAPP assessment subcommittees –CHC members suggested community members for each assessment subcommittee
