17. For some “the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word” Worldliness overcomes them

18. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12

23. Do we know how to self-examine? Am I more or less of a Christian right now? Do I sacrifice worldly things to Christ? Do I sacrifice Spiritual things to the world? Do I neglect my salvation?

24. Do I know how precious my faith is? that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 1:7
