4 District Test Coordinator Role District Test Coordinators (DTCs) are presumed to be at the district or school level (Building Test Coordinators, BTCs). District Test Coordinators (DTCs) play an important role in delivering the new assessments for Alaska Measures of Progress via KITE. The key duties of the DTCs are to upload data for – Users/Educators – Enrollemnt/Students – Rosters/Student-teacher pairing – Test Records The DTCs also oversee the assessment process, including manage user roles and responsibilities, develop a schedule for test implementation, monitor and support test preparations and administration, and develop a plan to facilitate communications with parents and staff.

5 Assessment Types Technology Practice Tests –Demo tests with universal usernames and logins for anyone to access and experience the KITE Client testing environment. Interim Assessments –Formally known as testlets, “Interim Assessment” is a growing pool of small item collections for a grade and subject aligned to Alaska’s standards. These will begin in the fall. New interim item collections including performance tasks and listening items will be available in January. Dynamic Learning Maps –A consortium of many states collaboratively developing an assessment system for children with the most significant cognitive delays grades 3-8 and 9-10. (ELA and Math) Summative Assessment –High stakes end of year assessments in English Language Arts and Math. We are doing science this year, in grades 4, 8, and 10. The tests will all be machine-scorable, and will consist of three parts.

6 Assessment types Technology Practice Tests Interim Assessments Dynamic Learning Maps Summative Assessment Performance Tasks –Performance Tasks, given in conjunction with AMP summative assessments this year, integrate knowledge and skills across multiple standards and can be used to measure skills at a greater depth of knowledge than can be adequately assessed with machine-scorable items. ELA Performance Tasks will ask students to consider a range of short resources (essays, various forms of media, informational texts) and to then write a response to a prompt about those resources in a way that demonstrates reasoning and understanding. Math Performance Tasks are collections of items centered on multiple mathematical concepts that may be organized around real-world situations or central themes.
