3. Setting Rules On the first day Involve all parties: roommate, suitemates Types Chores – trash, cleaning bathroom Visiting and quiet hours Belongings/Food – is it okay to share

4. Solving Disputes Address any problems immediately Express your feelings in a calm, clear, NICE manner Offer a solution or alternative If it gets out of hand, talk to your RA

5. Hygiene Be courteous – take showers after working out, etc. Talk to him or her if necessary or your RA if you are uncomfortable with the situation Clean room, bathroom, dishes, and clothes regularly. Don’t let it pile up. Take out trash regularly.

6. Dorm Facilities Laundry If you don’t know how, just ask. Don’t leave clothes for several hours. Be aware of when you need to take your clothes out. Don’t wash or dry other peoples clothes without their consent. You could accidently ruin something. Don’t use other peoples detergent or dryer sheets without their permission. Make sure you are not taking someone else’s clothes. If your clothes are stolen or ruined, talk to your RA.

7. Dorm Facilities Kitchen If you make a mess, clean it up immediately. Don’t leave your dishes in the sink. Wash soon after using. Don’t throw things into an already overflowing trashcan. If you are cooking something, stay there and watch it. Don’t eat other people’s food.
