If you don’t understand the directions that someone gives you, you can simply say – I don’t understand. I don’t get it. I am in the dark. I am lost. I didn’t get it. I didn’t catch that. I am not following you. I am confused.

Advice Topics: Speaker A is spending money each month than he/she is earning. Speaker B gives suggestions for managing money Speaker A doesn’t trust banks and keeps all of his/her money in a box under the bed. Speaker B gives explanation to show that is not a good idea Speaker A, an international student, is planning a vacation to Speaker B’s hometown (different city) Speaker A asks some suggestions from Speaker B how to save some money on the vacation (for example, inexpensive places to stay or eat)

Answering Negative Tag Questions
Tag with rising intonation: A: You’re from Taiwan, aren’t you? B: Yes, I am (Meaning: Speaker A is correct) A: We have homework today, don’t we? B: No, we don’t. (meaning: Speaker A is wrong.)
