Clinical Assessors What we are looking for High clinical standards Minimum 6 months experience in dept. Previous experience of assessing students Evidence of CPD Supportive and interested in students’ education Role specification 3 year period, then reviewed Liaison with student in organising case discussions Providing a supportive environment for students Following guidelines for assessment Providing feedback to student and course team Maintaining objectivity and impartiality
14
Placement Report Form Monitors progress and development Allocation of mentor Negotiation of placement learning outcomes structured and tailored to individual needs and accounting for annual learning outcomes Essentially provides a ‘focus’ for placement Mid-placement discussion and review
15
Placement Report Form Student completes comments section intention is for honest reflection rather than description or justification Completion by mentor discussion with staff written feedback and discussion with student provides basis for next placement Performance review at end of each clinical block Please let me know if you need any support in this area or with general student feedback
16
Case Reports Only sign if you are happy with the content Students should only be asked to make ONE set of changes If the case report is factually correct feel free to sign, their understanding of the content will be tested in the case discussion You are not signing to say they are competent with that technique
17
Case Reports ….. You could add post-it notes with extra comments? “This is factually correct but do you understand what this term means and will you be able to talk around it in a case discussion?” Students role does not need to be broken down into all its component parts Please let me know if you have any queries about signing case reports
18
