MASS AND WEIGHT
2
What is mass? Mass is: A measurement of how much matter is in an object. the amount of matter an object has.
3
How to Measure Mass? Mass is usually measured in kilograms which is abbreviated as kg.
4
Tools for Measuring Mass The Triple Beam Balance is the tool we use to measure mass.
5
Weight It is the amount of mass of an object, it is dependent upon gravity.
6
Some Tools for Measuring weight spring balance spring balance electronic scale electronic scale beam balance beam balance bathroom scale bathroom scale
7
Use this scale to show… 1.5 kg 2.5kg 3.5kg 2kg Use this scale to show… 225g 375g 625g 975g

11
COMPARE AND CONTRAST MASS vs. WEIGHT Always remains constant Depends on gravity Does not depend on gravity weight= mass x gravity weight of an object changes if the gravity changes
12
Did you know… 1 pound = 453,59 grams 1 ounce = 28.34 grams 1 ounce = 0.0625 pounds 1 ounce = 28,349.52 milligrams
