12 Success at GCSE 4. Faculty Support MFL Final controlled assessment dates are: Writing: 13 th Oct and 26 th Jan Speaking: 1 st /2 nd Dec and 10 th March Catch-up, revision and CA Wednesdays 3.00 - 4.00 in C13

13 Success at GCSE Maths Support OAs away Day –To be arranged towards the end of the spring term. –This will be for C/D borderline students 6 th Form Maths Tutors –Approximately 14 students assigned for weekly sessions with 6 th Form students in the spring term. This will be a 10 week programme.

15 Success at GCSE Science (Double/Triple) To achieve a triple award in Science, students study Biology, Chemistry & Physics For a double award, Core Science and Additional Science modules are studied.

18 Success at GCSE Science All core, double & triple Science students will be sitting their exams at the end of the year. ISAs will be completed on ELD 1 & ELD 2 Additional support www.my-gcsescience.com Revision guides (£3) Small group support with Mrs Kazwini/Mr Head Revision classes as advertised nearer the time. Class teachers are also hosting revision sessions

19 Success at GCSE English Tuesdays and Fridays from 3pm in A Block: Controlled assessment resit sessions will be organised by individual teachers and by Miss Pizan/Mr Cooper. Letters, with a list of session dates, will be sent via post to those who need to attend.

20 Success at GCSE English For most students, all Year 11 lessons are now focused on exam skills and revision of exam topics. English (single entry) lessons will focus on improving Controlled Assessment folders as well as exam skills.

21 Success at GCSE English ‘Supercram’ sessions will be organised later in the year: these usually take place on the Saturday prior to the examinations. An intensive revision day for students who require extra support will run in the spring term.

22 Success at GCSE English – additional support Sixth form English tutors will be assigned to a select number of students for additional one-to-one support early in the spring term. Revision guides will be available to purchase for all sections of the exams: look out for the letter later this term!

32 Success at GCSE GCSEs - A Student Perspective Help them produce a timetable and have a copy of it up at home. –But be flexible to change as priorities change, discuss with your child how they would like to plan. Understand the pressure points Ask them what support or motivation they need Encourage early nights and down time away from study Help them gain a healthy balance, to not over work It actually helped when my mum took my phone off me when it hit a certain time at night. Communicate well with school - mentor!
