In 1609 organized expeditions started by “the Dutch company of Oriental Indies”. In 1624 the New Holland and the New Amsterdam were founded. In 1638 the Swedish founded the New Sweden.

At the end of the third Anglo-Dutch war the New Holland became the English domain and the New Amsterdam became New York. In 1681 Pennsylvania was founded.

In 1670 the English nobles established in the South Virginia, and this was the first Carolina’s colony. The most important features of this colony were: Profitable trade in food, leather and prisoners with the Caribbean islands. Cultivation of the rice imported from Africa.

During the first colonial period the North Carolina was a border area. The South Carolina was politically divided in the original settlers and French Huguenots.

Anglo-French-Indian wars for the control of North America caused profound economic and political division. In 1729: Private owners sold both colonies to the British crown.
