3 Meaning: Eighty-seven years ago patriots came to what is now America to be free and build a new life.

4 Significance: The significance of this quote is that not only did these patriots leave their country to be free and build a new country, but they started it from scratch.

5 2.Quote: “We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.”(2) -Abraham Lincoln

6 Meaning: We can’t let these soldiers that have died, die for nothing; we can’t surrender, we must keep fighting.

7 Significance: The significance of this quote is that soldiers died in the war while helping to protect our country. We shouldn’t forget about them and not care about protecting our country.

9 Meaning: Draft laws state that a rich man can pay for someone else to take their place in the war, but if you are poor and can’t pay, you must fight in the war.(6)

12 Meaning: You gain wisdom by having the experience and sometimes the experience can hurt you, but when you go to do the same thing again you will know the right choice to make.

13 Significance: The significance of this quote is that after the civil war people looked back with more wisdom because of the civil war and had second thoughts if the war was the right way to solve the conflict between the north and the south.

15 Meaning: It is good war is so bad because if it was good we would start to like it.

16 Significance: The significance if this quote is that war should be the last option of solving problems because, now matter who wins the war people die on on both sides.
