Saskatchewan is rich in many resources, such as petroleum,minerals,and farm land.1 out of 3 of Saskatchewan is used for farming because Saskatchewan’s soil is good for growing crops. Other grains grow here include : canola, flax, rye, oats, canary seed, and barley. Almost half of Canada’s grain is grown in Saskatchewan. Natural Features

About 1,000,000 people live in Saskatchewan. Most of Saskatchewan’s people live in the southern part of the province. Saskatchewan is home to many Metis and Native peoples. Saskatchewan’s largest city is Saskatoon. Population

The provincial flower of Saskatchewan is called “Prairie Lilies ”. In 1914,the western red lily was named Saskatchewan’s provincial flower. It was put on Saskatchewan’s official flag In 1969.The western red lily grows throughout most of Saskatchewan and blooms from late June to mid July. Provincial Flower

Saskatchewan’s flag was adopted in 1969. It’s top half is green and serves as a symbol of Saskatchewan’s forests. The bottom half of the flag is yellow. Saskatchewan is the fifth largest province in Canada. Saskatchewan’s tree is called “White Birch”. Saskatchewan’s motto is “From many peoples strength” Saskatchewan’s bird is the sharp-tailed grouse. Saskatchewan’s name comes from the Cree word “kisisskatchewan.” It means “Swiftly Flowing River” in Cree. Saskatchewan became a province of Canada in 1905. Fun Facts
