Scenario #1 Student employment supervisor posts a position, lists the following screening criteria: GPA = 3.0 or better Sophomore or Junior What are the potential pitfalls of using this screening criteria?
18
Scenario #2 A supervisor hires a brand new student employee at the start of the Spring semester. The student is averaging 36 hours per week for the first 4 weeks. Is there a problem with this?
19
Scenario #3 A department posts multiple positions. A student applies for one of the positions, but the hiring manager / interview committee feel that the candidate is a better fit for one of the other positions. All of the positions have expired so applying for the other position isn’t possible. What options does the hiring department have?
20
Scenario #4 A student employee working under CWS is offered an additional position working as a Research Assistant for a Grant-funded project. What potential problems does this cause?
21
Scenario #5 Situation: new hire (this semester), maturity issues and marginal performance issues. Since disciplinary issues are not involved, are we within bounds to simply not rehire her (with the caveat that we would let her know ASAP)?
