3 Our Aims are to... Value every child as an individual. Develop academic and social skills. Provide a safe, happy, warm, and supportive environment. Promote a good work ethic. Lay down foundations in order for children to have a successful future Encourage partnerships between school staff and children’s families.

5 The Seven Learning Styles Visual (spatial):You prefer using pictures, images, and spatial understanding. Visual Aural (auditory-musical): You prefer using sound and music. Aural Verbal (linguistic): You prefer using words, both in speech and writing. Verbal Physical (kinesthetic): You prefer using your body, hands and sense of touch. Physical Logical (mathematical): You prefer using logic, reasoning and systems. Logical Social (interpersonal): You prefer to learn in groups or with other people. Social Solitary (intrapersonal): You prefer to work alone and use self- study. Solitary

6 Pastoral care team “ I use parental involvement. I will ring parents and arrange for them to come in, so that we can work in partnership in order to keep their child engaged. We use small achievable targets, which have been negotiated by myself, the parent and the child.”

8 Rewards/Punishment Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual. The motivating factors are external, or outside, rewards such as money or grades. These rewards provide satisfaction and pleasure that the task itself may not.

12 How we engage with difficult to reach pupils. If a child feels detached from learning in school for any reason. We also provide a class bubble box, which gives the child a confidential forum for him/her to discuss why they may be feeling unengaged.

20 School Council Finally I thought it was important to mention our school council. “We really enjoy our new topics and how we work with other children in other classes. We like to get into the wow zone as we like to achieve our stickers and we love the idea of being able to get our Hinguar Star!”
