5 Bangkok, Thailand, January 26, 2005 -- The World Tourism Organization is to convene a high level international meeting in Phuket between January 31 - February 1 to discuss an action plan for regional tourism recovery in the wake of the December 26, 2004, tsunami disaster. “Sars strikes down Asia tourism” “The general economic slowdown, the legacy of 11 September and the war in Iraq have all helped to depress demand for travel around the world.” (BBC, 15 May 2003)
