2 SOLAR POWER Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the sun, has been harnessed by humans since ancient times. - Solar heating - Solar photovoltaics - Solar thermal electricity - Solar architecture

3 Depending on the way they capture:
- Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun. - Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal.

4 Applications of solar technology
Architecture and urban planning: The key to designing a passive solar building is to best take advantage of the local climate. Agriculture and horticulture: it seeks to optimize the capture of solar energy in order to optimize the productivity of plants. Solar thermal energy: (STE) is a technology for harnessing solar energy for thermal energy. Solar energy in order to optimize the productivity of plants.

5 Solar hot water systems use sunlight to heat water.
A solar cooker uses the energy of sunlight to heat food or drink to cook it or sterilize it. Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity.

6 Solar Hot dog cooker Our experiment consists of an ecological solar hot dog cooker. In this project, sunlight hits the reflective surface of the cooker and focuses on the hot dog that is held in the center by a piece of steel wire.

7 Before starting this experiment, we already knew that a parabolic collector is perfect for reflecting the sun. This is used to provide hot water and produce electricity.

8 Steps Step 1: We covered the inside of the box with aluminum foil.
Step 2: We covered the poster board with more aluminum foil. Step 3: We attached the poster board slope to the box. Step 4: We made two holes on the box for the wire coat hanger. Step 5: We cut the hanger and put it through the holes. Step 6: We made some details to the experiment. For example, we covered the box with more poster board so it would look better. Step 7: We put a sausage through the hanger and put it on the sun.

9 Sunflower with light tracker
A solar tracking system is an automatic device for orienting a solar panel or a heating system towards the sun. Precise tracking of the sun is achieved through systems with single or dual axis tracking.

10 This project In this Project we have made a sunflower with a dual axis tracker to demonstrate how a tracking system works. Materials needed: Arduino microcontroller. Arduino internet board. Four (4) LDRs. Light Dependent Resistors. Four (4) felt-tip pen hoods. Two (2) Servomotors. One 9V cell. One switch. Connection cables. Several pieces of wood for the flower, the stem,… A box of CDs for the platform. Colour paper and leaves for the decoration.

11 Solar tracking work Control systems have got three important parts:
SENSORS (light, temperature,…) ¬==> CONTROLLER ==> ACTUATORS (motor, lamp,…) In our system we have: -Sensors. -Controller. -Motors.
