1 Wednesday December 3, 2014 Agenda -Day 1: Mission to Space -Key terms due tomorrow Bell Ringer Create a T-chart to compare Terrestrial planets vs. Jovian planets. Learning Target I will use data to compare and contrast objects in our solar system.

2 Mission to Space Project You have been carefully selected to serve as astronauts for the next mission to outer space. Before mission launch, you will need to conduct research on our solar system to prepare for objects you might encounter. Each team of astronauts will work together to prepare for the journey. Your research will be done at learning stations over the next three days. Your groups have been prearranged for this trip. To help gather as much information as possible, you will complete an astronaut’s journal that will be collected on Monday. Each station you visit will have a corresponding section in your journal. All astronauts must complete their own journal.

3 Research Directions You will have approximately 10 minutes at each station 1. Read the data at each station 2. Discuss the information with your crew- how will these characteristics impact your mission? 3. Complete the corresponding notes in your Astronaut Journal. 4. 4 Thursday December 4, 2014 Agenda -Day 2: Mission to Space -Key terms due today Bell Ringer Look at the chart on page 95. Write three sentences comparing and contrasting two planets. Learning Target I will use data to compare and contrast objects in our solar system.

8 Writing Piece Work with your crew to design a flight plan. Outline a path making stops on at least two different planets in our solar system. Describe what you expect to find on each planet (volcanoes, storms, craters, etc.), what kind of special equipment would you need to explore safely, and research you hope to find. 1. Outline your trip 2. What do you expect to find on each planet 3. Special equipment needed to safely explore 4. Research you hope to conduct (what do you want to know more about) on that planet
