2 Intro to Engineering Elective #80345 Credit: 0.5 Level: 9-12 PreReq: None CCHE: Yes NCAA: No Fee: $20 Description: This course offers students a basic introduction to the fields of engineering. Students will investigate multiple engineering fields, complete activities related to various engineering fields, be introduced to 3-D modeling using computer software, and the engineering design process. Topics include, but are not limited to, electrical, civil, mechanical and renewable energy.

3 Engineering I (Robotics) Elective #80332 Credit: 0.5 Level: 9-12 PreReq: Intro to Eng CCHE: Yes NCAA: No Fee: $20 Description: This course offers students the opportunity to work with Vex Robotics kits to explore design, gear systems, sensor technology, and programming. Students will work in small teams to compete against classmates in the Robot Olympiad. Possible events include: robot soccer, drag racing, sensor based line following, and a Mars rover challenge. Students will use the 7-Step engineering process to develop and test their robots and will conclude the class by exploring careers that involve robotics

4 Engineering II Elective #80334 Credit: 0.5 Level: 10-12 PreReq: Eng I CCHE: Yes NCAA: No Fee: $20 Description: This course offers students the opportunity to practice engineering concepts in a modular lab design. Students will complete short introductory rotations on modules designed to provide hands-on experience with engineering applications. These applications include: wind tunnel technology, pneumatics, sensor technology, materials testing, design of structures, GPS technologies, mechanical systems, etc. The focus is on developing skills that the students can apply to projects and motivate students to continue their learning in math and science.

5 Engineering III (Engineering Project) Elective #80336 Credit: 1.0 Level: 10-12 PreReq: Eng II CCHE: Yes NCAA: No Fee: $40 Description: Students will have the opportunity to work in teams to complete pre-engineering projects. Topics include: pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, measurement tools, materials testing, design and testing of structures, electronics, wind tunnel testing, sensors and mechanical systems. Projects may include: automated can crusher, personal hovercraft, solar cells, maglev trains, automated hydroponic garden and catapults. The overall goal is to provide students a background to make informed career choices about their interest and ability in pursuing learning in math, science and engineering.

6 Engineering IV (Advanced Project) Elective #80337 Credit: 1.0 Level: 10-12 PreReq: Eng III CCHE: Yes NCAA: No Fee: $40 Description: Students will work in teams to complete advanced engineering projects.Topics include pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, measurement tools, materials testing, design and testing of structures, electronics, wind tunnel testing, sensors and mechanical systems. Projects may include: advanced robotics and electric car, solar cells, maglev trains, automated hydroponic garden, home security systems, water desalination and steam powered catapults. The overall goal is to provide students a background to make informed career choices about their interest and ability in pursuing learning in math, science and engineering.
