MAN’S GREATEST NEED: KNOWING OUR GOD Finite = having bounds, ends, or limits Infinite = so great as to be immeasurable and unbounded; limitless We can know what God has revealed about himself in his word

JESUS – Showing us the Father Jesus shows us the nature of God, being God Himself (Jn. 14:8-9) “Immanuel” = God with us God in the flesh (Jn. 1:1, 14; Phil. 2:6-7) Will of Father now revealed through the Son (Heb. 1:1-2)

Creator and Sustainer Acts 17:24-28 “In the beginning, God…” (Gen. 1:1); Creator (Gen. 1:31; Heb. 11:3; Psa. 33:9) “In Him all things consist” (Col. 1:15-17) To deny the existence of the Creator is to be a fool (Psa. 14:1)

Triune God One God (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 45:5); not “polytheistic” (many gods – idolatry) Plurality of persons united in the one essence of deity (Gen. 1:26-27; Gen. 11:7) One divine essence [God] and three that share that essence (Jn. 1:1; Matt. 1:20; Lk. 1:35)

God is Spirit John 4:24 – “God is spirit” – not flesh and blood Man is made in God’s image (Gen. 1:26- 27); man has an immortal spirit (Eccl. 12:7) As spiritual beings, we can partake of the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4)

God – the Perfect Judge Perfect knowledge (1 Jn. 3:20) Perfect law/standard (Jas. 1:25) Perfect love (Jn. 3:16) Perfect impartiality (Rom. 2:11; Deut. 10:17)

God – the Perfect Judge Perfect mercy, compassion, and forgiveness (Micah 7:18-19) Perfect wrath (Nahum 1:2-3; Rom. 1:18) Perfect timing (Acts 17:31) Perfect reward and punishment (Matt. 25:46; Rom. 2:6-8)

What We Would Not Know Without Knowing God How we came to exist Our purpose on earth An absolute standard of right and wrong His immeasurable love for us Knowing God is our Greatest Need!
