8. Research Publications 2003-04 Last year, Liberal Arts faculty published or edited 9 scholarly books and more than 119 research articles, chapters, or other creative works. Liberal Arts faculty edit 8 scholarly journals.

Teaching and Learning 2003-2004 Liberal Arts faculty published 29 teaching articles and 9 textbooks along with a number of videos and multimedia resources. 18 faculty members received support from either the School of Liberal Arts or the Office of Professional Development for teaching and learning.

From July 1, 1997 through June 30, 2004, direct gift support to the IU School of Liberal Arts through the Comprehensive Campaign was distributed in the following ways: Gifts in support of departments and programs $2,021,732 Faculty and Staff Compensation (endowed positions) $1,111,556 Student financial aid $2,924,212 Research support $ 22,005 Public Service activities (Symposia, etc.) $ 33,725 Other restricted purposes $ 619,056 Loan funds $ 2,651 Property, buildings and Equipment $ 400 Pledges and expectancies, totaling over $5.3 million will support 3 endowed faculty positions, a lectureship, the Peirce Edition Project, study abroad scholarships, the Dean’s Priorities Fund, a writing prize and graduate assistantships. Total raised for the School of Liberal Arts, including non-governmental grants is $35,749,606. With a total of $9,982,978 raised in gifts, the School achieved 181.51% of its $5.5 million goal.
