1 Welcome to Back to School Night Kindergarten Mrs. Hansen & Mrs. Saladin Main Avenue Elementary

2 Mrs. Saladin has been a teacher for 27 years. She has always taught in the Robla School District and lives in Sacramento with her husband. She has a grown up son who graduated from UC Berkeley and he now lives in the Bay Area. Mrs. Hansen has been a teacher for 18 years, 16 of those in the Robla School District. She lives in Woodland with her husband and junior high son.

3 Goals For Kindergarten standards –L–Letters/sounds/sight words/beginning readers –L–Legible printing with phonetic spelling How to hold a pencil –C–Count to at least 100 by 1’s and 10’s –W–Write numbers correctly to at least 20. –S–Sorting and patterning –I–Identify shapes –B–Beginning understanding of time and calendar

4 Classroom Rules Listen when someone is talking. Stop when someone asks you to.

5 Good Work Awards Earn them for working like kindergarteners. Receive 5 for bringing back homework. Earn them in class, on the playground, etc. Spend them on Fridays to choose from the grab tubs. “Pay” teachers for misbehavior.

6 School Supplies Some classroom items are provided by the teachers Each student needs a backpack daily. Only School Related Items at school. Come to school ready to learn and get PLENTY of sleep.

7 Homework Kindergarten homework is weekly. Goes home on Monday – return on Friday. If complete – 5 GWA and Friday Frolic. Also, 5 GWA for returning your folder. Bookworm envelopes of decodables. Daily books from class library.

10 How To Help Box Tops For Education Labels for Education Cartridges for Kids E-Waste 4 Good

11 Volunteers We are looking for volunteers to help out in the room daily from 9:09 – 10:00 Check the sign-up page for times you can help out in the room.

12 Field Trips We are planning on a trip to the Sacramento Zoo and possibly Fairytale Town. It is all pending budget and costs.

13 Snacks At our morning recess we have a quick snack. We are looking for donations of healthy snacks or money to purchase snacks for the class.
