KTL is California CHARTER #85 Began in 1995 as a K-8 program and added 9-12 Fully Accredited K-12 by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and College Finalist for the California Distinguished School A unique public school that partners with parents

KTL means Keyes to Learning The KTL school offices are in the town of Keyes… BUT, learning can take place anywhere the parents choose, including at LARSA Hall. The leadership in this community is encouraging a partnership between KTL and you!

Learning at KTL Includes the Family Parents who do not speak/read/write English will learn English with their children. Monday through Friday 5 Days of Class from 8:30-3:00 After School Activities from 3:00-5:30 One hour of homework each day Homework will use cd’s for English Tutoring after school at LARSA

No cost for books or teachers for the entire class day from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. KTL is a public school, not a private school. All students are welcome to register. There is NO enrollment cost and NO tuition.

Everything that is available to our current KTL students will be available to all new students. Field Trips to plays, concerts, museums, parks, and places of historic interest Music—Group Lessons Art—Group Activities Physical Education Dance Events such as relays, picnics, and award parties

KTL Teacher Requirements No Child Left Behind (NCLB) highly-qualified status California teacher certification, including CBEST test Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Core Knowledge ® curriculum experience Basic first aid, fingerprint clearance, and TB tests on record Internet communication ability for posting assignments, grades and communication with parents Voluntary participation in this community program

Teacher Hours KTL Teachers complete all required subjects in English 8:30-3:00 Tuesday 8:30-3:00 Wednesday 8:30-3:00 Thursday 8:30-3:00 Friday Monday is a special Assyrian language day!

Bilingual Tutor Requirements Fluent in Assyrian and English First aid, fingerprint clearance, TB tests on record If working with students on CORE subjects: Associate’s degree, equivalent, or higher Pass CBEST, California’s basic teacher test Other qualifications appropriate to the subject matter

Teachers and Tutors are required to communicate with parents about a child’s progress. Parents are required to be involved in the school program.

After School Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:30 pm After school activities are optional. Assyrian will be spoken during games and crafts. Tutoring and choir will be offered. Fees determined by the Educational Committee.

Shared Cost of Bilingual Education Parents bring their children to class ready to learn… and provide volunteer hours. The State of California provides teachers and curriculum in English. Keyes School District provides any special services. The Assyrian community provides classrooms and the Assyrian program.
