I chose to do my 3 rd term project on Arnold Schwarzenegger. I chose him for his bodybuilding and fame. To me he is a very interesting and amazing person. Throughout my project there is information and pictures about Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a famous bodybuilder, movie star and Governor. His full name is Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. He became Mr. Universe at 22 years old and won Mr. Olympia seven times. He is now the 38 th Governor of California. He started weight training to body build at 15. Schwarzenegger has written many books. He gained his movie fame when he played the lead role in both the movies “Terminator” and “Conan the Barbarian”. He has an Austrian and American background. From his movie career he has been nicknamed “Arnie”. He was elected as the Governor of California on October 7 th 2003 and was re-elected in November 2006. Schwarzenegger has 4 children and is married to Maria Shriver. He is the most important person in history when it comes to bodybuilding. He has a personal bodybuilding commemorative annual bodybuilding competition called the ‘Arnold classic bodybuilding competition’. Arnold has won many bodybuilding competitions and shows. He won Mr. Europe in 1966 at the age of 19. His competition weight was 240 lbs.

Schwarzenegger was born on the 30 th of July 1947 and is now 62 years old. He was named Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger was born in a small village in Sytrian capital Austria. He was brought up with stern parents. He and his father Gustav Schwarzenegger did not get along well. Gustav was born in 1907 and died in 1972. His mum, named Aurelia Jardny was born in 1922 and died in 1998 but Arnold had a strong relationship with his mother. He was brought up as a roman catholic child. His family was poor and even had trouble buying a refrigerator. Schwarzenegger did many sports as a child, he was influenced by his father with a sporty characteristic. At the age of 14 he decided that he would take up bodybuilding for his career.

When it comes to bodybuilding Schwarzenegger is the most important person in history. He first gained his fame when he was bodybuilding. In his bodybuilding career he won Mr. Europe jr, Mr. World, Mr. Universe(five times) and Mr. Olympia(seven times). Schwarzenegger admitted that in 1977 he used enhancing anabolic steroids which helped him maintain his muscle size. When he used the anabolic drugs they made his muscles maintain their size and not make them bigger. Although opposition bodybuilders used the drugs to make their muscles bigger and not to maintain. His German doctor Willi Heape predicted that he will have an early death and heart problems due to his muscle size because of lifting heavy weights, in 1996 Schwarzenegger had to have open heart surgery to replace an aortic valve.

Schwarzenegger always wanted to be the best bodybuilder in the world, he needed to be Mr. Olympia. He attempted the first time in 1969 but lost to the three time champion Sergio Oliva. 1 year later he attempted again and won, this made him the youngest person ever to win Mr. Olympia, which was at 23 years old and still is a record today. He continued his winning streak from 1971-1974 but in 1975 it was his last time he competed in the competition and won against Franco Columbu (Sardinian Strongman). After Schwarzenegger won the competition he announced his retirement. He felt he missed all the competitions and secretly trained up for Mr. Olympia again. He won it again and officially retired. Then he moved onto acting.

Schwarzenegger admitted that he used steroids when they were legal in 1967. The enhancing powder helped Arnold maintain his muscle size. While he was taking the anabolic he needed to be on a strict diet he didn’t use them to make his muscles bigger, he used them to keep their size, unlike other competitors.

Schwarzenegger is the 38 th Governor of California, his latest mission is to restore health and fitness in the community. He is promoting healthy eating by taking out harmful trans fats out of Californian restaurants and making sure nutritional information is provided to diners. He is also working on state schools’ nutritional standards. Schwarzenegger also wants to get rid of school text books and replace them with eBooks. EBooks are electronic text books which Schwarzenegger believes will be cheaper. “ "It's nonsensical and expensive to look to traditional hard-bound books when information today is so readily available in electronic form" Schwarzenegger wrote. "Especially now, when our school districts are strapped for cash and our state budget deficit is forcing further cuts to classrooms, we must do everything we can to untie educators' hands and free up dollars so that schools can do more with fewer resources.“ He plans to launch a scheme in August next year for high school students to access online maths and science books. The digital textbook is called Sony reader which can hold up to 160 books.
