Planning Work Group Activity Update 4 Participate, gather and report on: P1 - VG model validation Certain generic wind turbine, Solar PV, and battery energy storage models are available in PSLF and/or PSS/E. Investigating others. P2 - Relevant NERC activities Reviewed NERC IVGTF efforts and white paper examining capacity values and flexibility metric

5 Planning Work Group Activities Update Reviewing methodologies for assigning trans. capacity for wind: LOLE and LOLP Request more volunteers. P3 - Transmission capacity assignment and adequacy for accommodating the integration of VG P4 - Standardizing and Validating Planning Criteria and Methodologies Issued a draft whitepaper on Wind Capacity Issues prepared jointly with WECC LRS. Literature Review & Data Issues - focus on July 24, 2006.

6 Planning Work Group Activities Update P6 - Create a centralized database for VG Circulated a survey on availability and quality of VG data Responses were due April 12, will help drive data collection efforts and identify confidentiality issues. P7 – System Dynamics Issues Distributed an initial draft list of prioritized dynamics studies to evaluate high VG scenarios across WECC Continue collecting information from WECC staff, TSS, SRWG, MVWG and PCC as well as other dynamic studies and reports.

7 Planning Work Group Next Steps Meet June 15 in Salt Lake City Continue work on Activities P1-P7 FERC NOI on Variable Energy Resources Encourage increased participation in PWG Discuss PWG role and expectations within TSS, TEPPC, ColumbiaGrid, NTTG and Westconnect Identify highest priority planning needs for VG
