Monologue: A speech given by a single actor to another character or the audience. Can be comedic or dramatic Character’s own thoughts and emotions Directed to a specific audience Not to be confused with a soliloquy, which is similar, but the speech is not directed at a specific audience.

The ultimate goal of the character What the character “wants”. All action should drive towards obtaining the super-objective. This is determined before any work is done towards the performing of the monologue.

With super-objective in mind… Emotional beats - / Shifts or changes in emotions or tactics Usually indicate a need for a change in voice or pause Important Words - underline Find the MOST IMPORTANT word in each sentence Stress it or drive to that word
