2
Biography Born in Woolsthorpe Went to school in Woolsthorpe
He went to Cambridge University in 1661, he lectured there until 1696 He published a book commonly known as the Principal in 1687 In 1714 Newton became the most highly esteemed natural philosopher in Europe
3
Bio 2 He was named after his father
He lived with his uncle, and saw little of his mom He never married, and lived modestly, was a simple man He tooked little intrest in his studies He made few friends He was born on Christmas Day He had three step siblings
4
Derivatives This approach was used by Newton in the development of his Classical Mechanics The main idea is the concept of velocity and speed Velocity=distance from point A to B/ time to get from A to B.
5
Integrals You apply them to the solution of differential equations and the determining of areas, volumes, and lengths Integrals are the inverse of derivatives Integrals undo derivatives
6
Velocity Designates how fast and in what direction a point is moving
Is measured by time or length Ex. A train that travels 100 km in 2 hours, for example, has an average speed of 50 km per hour
7
Acceleration Is defined as the rate of change of velocity Length/time
To accelerate an object is to change its velocity, or to apply a force
8
Arch nemesis Newtons arch nemesis was Robert Hooke
Robert Hooke disagreed over Optics with him Robert was jealous of Newton

Method of Flexions Treatise of the System of the World
10
Newtons laws Newtons first law of motion...
Every object stays in motion and remains in motion unless acted upon by a force Newtons second law of moton... An objects motion is it mass times acceleration Newtons third law of motion... For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

Famous Quotes We built too many walls, and not enough bridges
I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people If i have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me
