Steam Path Capabilities Diaphragm Repairs Upon Receiving Diaphragms For Repairs STS Will: Perform Visual Inspection (this include checking horizontal joints for erosion or steam cutting, packing bores, centering slots, etc.). Assembly Diaphragm and check horizontal joints for excessive gaps, packing bores for out of roundness. Take and Record Dimensional Data. Check and Record Seal Condition and Diameters. Check and Record Vertical Sealing Surface Condition. Check Diaphragm Hardware. Make Recommendations To Customer.

Superior Turbine Solutions, Inc. Steam Path Capabilities Diaphragm Repairs Minor Repair After performing an incoming inspection it is normally required to perform minor repairs. This typically consist of: - Adjusting some or all of the areas. - Straightening some or all of the trailing edges of the partitions. - Benching back some or all of the partitions. - Removing any foreign object damage. - Repairing crack indications that were found during N.D.E.

Superior Turbine Solutions, Inc. Steam Path Capabilities Diaphragm Repairs Major/Minor Repairs A Major/Minor repair would consist of the same items that are included in the minor repair description. In addition the following would be done: - Weld repairing 10% of the partitions/blades. This repair requires cutting back the partition 1/2 to 5/8 removing all of the damaged area on the trailing edge. - Form copper mold. - Weld repair partitions using Inco-82 or, 410SS. - Rough grind and contour partition, pitches, and areas. - NDE welded partitions. - Set areas. - Final grind and polish.

Superior Turbine Solutions, Inc. Steam Path Capabilities Diaphragm Repairs Major Repair A major repair would consist of the following: - Cutting back all of the partitions/blades in the diaphragm. Normal cut back is 1/2 to 5/8. - Form copper mold. - Weld all of the partitions using Inco - 82 or, 410SS. If customer prefers 410SS the diaphragm has to be stress relieved and re-blast cleaned. - Rough grind and contour partitions. - Set areas, pitches, and trailing edges. - N.D.E. - Final polish.
