3. The Constitution A set of Rules that explain how the government of a country works The US constitution details things like the Powers of the President, Congress etc…

5. The Constitution guarantees the rights of the people. The Constitution is the highest law in the land which means that the Bill of Rights are the Highest laws in the land. If someone is denied their rights they can take legal action against it.

7. Article 1 Describes how Laws are made in America. Section 1: All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

8. Article 2 Describes the powers of the President Section 1: The Executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his office during the term of 4 years. Section 2: The Presidentshall be Commander in Chief of the army and navy of the United States. He shall have power… with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties

9. Article 3 Describes the power of the membership of the US Supreme Court Section 1: The Judicial power of the United States shall be vested in one Supreme Court

11. The Amendments The constitution has been added to since the Original. In total there have been 27 Amendments. The first 10 Amendments are known as the Bill of Rights which outline the Rights of the citizens. Amendment 1: Guarantees Freedom of Speech and Religion Amendment 2: The right to carry guns Amendment 5: The right to remain silent if the answer might incriminate them Amendment 6: The right to stand trial by jury
