ELA – Mrs. Fulton Reading We will continue to learn about how an author sets a mood, but this week we will be working with poetry. Here are some questions to ask when you are reading with your child. How did what you just read make you feel? What words did the author use that made you feel that way? How does the illustration (picture) make you feel? What about the picture makes you feel that way? How does the picture relate to the mood the author creates with the words in the text? Language Arts We are starting a review of the skills we have learned so far this year, like – capitalization, complete sentences, compound and complex sentences, common and proper nouns, verb tenses, possessives, contractions, and subject verb agreement. Ask your child to identify the words they use when they are talking to you as nouns, verbs, or adjectives. This is a basic skill many of them still have not mastered.
