18 This is our story of Abraham Lincoln.

19 Abe Lincoln was our 16 th President.

20 Abe was born February 12, 1809, in a log cabin in Kentucky. Abe’s Family moved to Indiana when he was 7.

21 Abe’s mom Nancy died when he was nine and Abe’s dad, Thomas remarried a woman named Sarah Bush Johnston. They lived in Indiana. Abe Lincoln became a lawyer.

22 Abe got married to Mary Todd. Mary and Abe Lincoln had four sons.

23 On March 4, 1861, Abe became the 16th President of America.

24 President Abraham Lincoln did not want slaves. The south wanted slaves but the north did not.

25 The Civil War began in 1861. The North won in 1865. Then the Civil War came and America split.

26 On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Abe and Mary Lincoln went to the Ford Theater to see a play.

27 Abe was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865 at the Ford Theater. He died the next morning at 7:22.

28 Abraham Lincoln will always be remembered as a great American hero.

36 What happened in the town of Erath in 1964? The most horrible moment in Erath, Louisiana was when “Hurricane Hilda” visited the small town on October 3, 1964. A twister caused the water tower to collapse and kill 8 men.

37 This is the Water Tower and City Hall in 1962.

38 In 1964, the water tower collapsed on the City Hall and the fire department.

39 This was a horrible accident in Erath.

40 It crushed the City Hall and Fire Department.

41 It killed eight Erath men.

42 One man survived. His name is Martial Broussard.

43 They built a new Fire Department in 1965.
