5 Spelling Word Study Program –Pretest Monday –Word practice in class throughout the week –High Frequency Words –Spelling Test Friday Study List, 5 Applied Words, 5 High Frequency Words

6 Writing Writer’s Workshop *Focus on writing process of forming a basic paragraph *Narratives, Opinion/Argumentative and Informational Writing

7 Math *District is piloting two math programs this year – Bridges and Eureka Math *Start with Bridges *No Math Swap *Weekly Math Facts Tests – start with addition

8 Social Studies o San Ramon Local History o Mapping/Continents o Government o Social Studies tests given after each chapter (5 chapters total). Study guide will be provided

9 Science *One lab per week with Mrs. Dees *Adaptations *Energy *Matter *Light *Solar System *Plants *Animals

11 New Common Core Report Card This year all schools will be using a brand new Common Core State Standards report card. The subjects and content your students will be assessed on are aligned to support the achievement of these standards. Students will now be assessed using a 1 – 3 grading rubric, with a “3” signifying a student who consistently demonstrated at standard work. You will be hearing more from our school throughout this trimester regarding our new Common Core Report Card. Copies can be found on the district website under the “Assessment, Research, and Evaluation” department tab.
