4  Plymouth, England Main Menu  Plymouth, England is located in the South West coast of England.  In September of 1620, 102 passengers boarded a ship in Plymouth, England.  The passengers were in search of the “New World”.

5   The boat that sailed from England to America.  The journey took 66 days.  It was 110 feet long and 25 feet wide. The Mayflower Main Menu

6   The first place that the passengers landed The Mayflower.  They landed on a rock, now called Plymouth Rock.  North West of Cape Cod, MA  Was the location of the first Thanksgiving Plymouth, MA Main Menu

7   The passengers became Pilgrims when they left England in search of the “New World”.  Pilgrim is Latin for peregrinus.  They were led by Robert Browne. Pilgrims Main Menu

8   The first winter the pilgrims were in Plymouth was terrible.  It snowed and was very cold all winter long – even colder then usual.  The pilgrims were unable to crop a harvest and went without necessary food supply.  Nearly half the pilgrims died that winter. The First Winter Main Menu

9   A Native American Tribe located in Plymouth, MA.  There was over 3,000 of them in Plymouth, before the pilgrims arrived.  They were known for their agriculture skills.  They taught the pilgrims how to farm the fertile soil. Wampanoag Tribe Main Menu

10   Even though the Pilgrims landed in 1620 the first Thanksgiving took place in 1621.  The feast lasted 5 days.  They ate seafood, lobster, corn on the cob, pudding, cranberries.  It was thought that potatoes were poisonous so they didn’t eat them. The First Thanksgiving Main Menu
