What did Jesus Say? The Greatest Commandment “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself” Matthew 22

Remember the Ten Commandments? 1.Have no other God 2. Do not make or worship idols 3.Do not misuse the Lords name 4.Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy 5. Respect your parents 6. Do not murder 7. Do not commit adultery 8. Do not steal 9. Do not give false evidence 10. Do not envy

The Golden Rule Although the religions of the world have developed in different places and at different times they have a lot in common. They all teach that we should ‘treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated.’ This rule, common to all religions is called ‘the Golden Rule’. This rule is very important. If people would live by it the world would be a much better place In groups discuss how you might feel if: a person keeps staring at you Two people are saying horrible things about you right in front of you a person keeps interrupting you when you speak somebody hits you for no reason

Discuss some of the problems that exist in the world today. Write them down. Now try to work out how these problems might be solved if the Golden Rule was applied to them. Do you think it is a good rule to live by? Give reasons for your answer
