WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME: RESPECT PREPERATION CONSISTENCY BEST EFFORT
5
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU AS A STUDENT RESPECT PREPERATION DISCIPLINE BEST EFFORT “THERE ARE ONLY 2 THINGS IN LIFE YOU CAN CONTROL, ATTITUDE AND EFFORT”
6
THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD IN THIS CLASSROOM RESPECT RESPECT-THE CONDITION OF BEING ESTEEMED OR HONORED. THE GOLDEN RULE “DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU”
7
THE DIFFERENCE IN PROCEDURES AND RULES PROCEDURE- HOW THINGS ARE DONE IN ORDER TO ENSURE THINGS RUN SMOOTHLY. (THINGS THAT YOU DO) RULE- THINGS THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO DO IN ORDER FOR THINGS TO RUN SMOOTHLY.
8
WHY HAVE PROCEDURES? PROCEDURES WILL ALLOW THIS CLASSROOM TO WORK EFFECTIVELY AND WITH AS LITTLE INTERUPTION AS POSSIBLE. PROCEDURES WILL MAKE LIFE BETTER ON YOU AND ME IN THIS CLASSROOM.
9
WHERE ELSE CAN WE FIND PROCEDURES AND WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT? Procedures are a part of life. They allow complex operations to run smoothly with minimal confusion, low stress, and less wasted time. WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE IN ONE PLACE, WE NEED PROCEDURES.
10
CAN YOU IMAGINE THESE PLACES WITHOUT PROCEDURES? AIRPORTS? RESTERAUNTS? HIGHWAYS? ATHLETIC EVENTS? STOP SIGNS? THIS IS WHY THE CLASSROOM MUST HAVE PROCEDURES.
11
CLASSROOM PROCEDURE #1 ENTERING THE CLASSROOM 1. COME IN QUIETLY, IN ORDER, AND SIT DOWN. 2.ONCE YOU ENTER THE DOOR, CLASS HAS BEGUN. 3. INSIDE VOICE: ONCE YOU ARE IN THIS CLASSROOM, YOU SHOULD USE YOUR INSIDE VOICE. (IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE, NOW MIGHT BE A GOOD TIME TO CHANGE YOUR SCHEDULE) 4. ONCE INSIDE THE CLASSROOM, IMMEDIATELY BEGIN ON BELLWORK.
12
BELLWORK EACH DAY BELLWORK SHOULD TAKE BETWEEN 5- 15 MINUTES, DEPENDING ON THE ASSIGNMENT. THE PURPOSE OF BELLWORK IS TO EITHER REVIEW MATERIAL FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY, OR INTODUCE NEW MATERIAL. THIS IS DEFINITELY OUR QUIET TIME. THIS IS A GRADE THAT WILL COUNT FOR A MAJOR PORTION OF YOUR GRADE.
13
BELLWORK(CONTINUED) BELLWORK WILL BE GRADED DAILY BASED ON A 20 POINT SCALE. EXAMPLE: IF BELLWORK CONSIST OF 4 QUESTIONS AND YOU ONLY ANSWER 1, YOU WILL GET A 5 FOR THAT DAY. AT THE END OF THE WEEK THESE GRADES WILL BE TALLIED UP FOR A WEEKLY GRADE. BELLWORK SHOULD BE AN EASY GRADE THAT ONLY REQUIRES A LITTLE EFFORT.
14
CLASSROOM PROCEDURE #2 TARDIES ONCE THE BELL RINGS IF YOU ARE NOT SEATED, YOU ARE TARDY. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON TO BE TARDY TO FIRST OR SECOND BLOCK.
15
CLASSROOM PROCEDURE #3 BATHROOM VISITS VERY SIMPLE PROCEDURE-THE ANSWER IS “NO” YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME BEFORE FIRST BLOCK TO USE THE BATHROOM. BEFORE 2 ND BLOCK YOU CAN USE IT AT BREAK. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR YOU TO HAVE TO GO DURING CLASS.
16
CLASSROOM PROCEDURE #4 FINISHING EARLY WHEN YOU FINISH SOMETHING EARLY IT IS YOUR GOAL TO NOT INTERUPT ANYONE ELSE WHO IS WORKING. YOU CAN SIT QUIETLY, CHECK OVER YOUR WORK, DRAW, COLOR, OR ORGANIZE YOUR NOTEBOOK. DO NOT DISTURB OTHERS.
17
PROCEDURE #5 GETTING MY ATTENTION THE WAY TO GET MY ATTENTION IS BY RAISING YOUR HAND, NOT CALLING MY NAME. ONCE YOUR HAND IS RAISED I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I SEE YOU AND WILL HELP YOU ASAP.
18
PROCEDURE #6 TARDIES WHEN YOU ARE TARDY, COME IN QUIETLY AND HAVE A SEAT. YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE A DISRUPTION WHEN YOU COME IN. IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE SENT RIGHT BACK OUT.
19
PROCEDURE #7 GROUP WORK GROUP WORK IS GREAT FOR YOU AND FOR ME. GROUP WORK ALLOWS YOU TO INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER AND DO FUN ACTIVITIES. WE WILL DO TONS OF GROUP WORK IF YOU CAN GET GOOD AT THIS PROCEDURE. WHEN WE ARE IN GROUPS, WE SHOULD NOT GET ABOVE A WHISPER.
