2 Colonial Resistance Protests continued. British officials fear rebellion – a rejection of the rules and authority of Britain Parliament sent soldiers (redcoats) to Massachusetts who set up camp in the center of Boston

4 March 5, 1770 – Boston Massacre Fight breaks out British officers tried to calm people down Colonists threw sticks and stones at British soldiers Soldiers became afraid and fired their guns into the crowd Five colonists were killed
