2 What is a work plan?  A time table to make sure all foods are ready at the same time.

3 How can you do this?  Dovetail tasks—doing several tasks at the same time to save time and energy.  Example: Cooking the entrée and vegetables while you are preparing dessert.

4 Pre-Preparation Tasks  1. Read the recipe.  2. Prepare the market order (grocery list)  3. Gather equipment  4. Gather ingredients

5 Preparation Tasks  Wash hands  Set table  Measure ingredients  Clean as you go  Preheat oven  Mix ingredients  Set timer  Cook!  Final clean up

6 How do you know where to start?  The entrée (main dish) usually takes the longest.  Examples: Pork Tenderloin Pork Tenderloin Tacos Tacos Chicken Chicken

7 Timetable  Used to make sure you complete all tasks on time.  List pre-preparation times  List preparation times  List cooking time  Calculate total time  Calculate starting time

8 Evaluation  A step-by-step procedure where you reflect on your cooking experience. Did you like the taste? Did you like the taste? Was it prepared correctly? Was it prepared correctly?
