6 Step 4 Check an IMPACT LEVEL for each concern:  High Impact – Classroom  Concern is about a something inside the classroom  Examples: o Curriculum o Instruction o Assessment o Extra help – in the classroom o Environment – classroom discipline  High Impact – Outside  Concern is about something outside the classroom  Supports or compliments classroom practices  Examples: o Guidance o Extra help – outside the classroom o Environment – parent involvement  Low Impact  Concern about something inside or outside the classroom  Does NOT support or compliment classroom practices 6

7 Step 5 Check an ENERGY LEVEL for each concern:  High Energy  Will take significant energy from the entire faculty to address  Usually requires significant professional development  Medium Energy  Will take medium energy from the entire faculty to address or  Will take high energy from a few faculty members to address  Low Energy  Will take minimum energy from a few staff members to address  Low Energy - Continuation  Once a high-energy concern  Now takes minimum energy from a few staff members to address 7

8 Step 6 Check your SUGGESTION for each concern  Address  This year o Research strategies to address the concern o Development implementation plan  Preparation steps  Strategy evaluation steps  Professional development steps  Anti-resistance steps  Next Year o Implement the strategy o Evaluate the strategy  Place in a parking lot for consideration in a future year  Omit 8

9 Consideration #1 Do the collective concerns include:  At least one high-impact classroom concern  At least one community concern  Concern(s) related to specific student groups  Concern(s) related to specific data targets  Only a few high-energy concerns No? Back to the drawing board 9

10 Consideration #2: Collective impact If the selected concerns are resolved, are you likely to reach your data targets? No? Back to the drawing board 10

11 Consideration #3 Time and energy Does the faculty have enough time and energy to resolve all of the concerns that you are suggesting? No? Back to the drawing board 11
