Yes…Making Disciples Will you come to Sunday School? Would you like to join our Sunday School Class? Will you pray for the lost? Will you prepare for class? Will you participate in class? These are the “Go” and the “Teaching” of the Great Commission!

Yes…Making Disciples: Going and Teaching Sunday School must be about evangelism! “Class leaders expect what they inspect.” Create a culture of invitation. Every leader and every class promotes outreach weekly not weakly.

Yes…Making Disciples: Going and Teaching Do your class rosters reflect an inviting Sunday School? –Look at your class attendance-enrollment ratio. –A healthy ratio of attendance to enrollment should be 40-60%. Connect 3 : the power of one Sunday School class; page 12.

Results: Preparation & Participation A basic understanding of the lesson is established prior to class. Preparation leads to greater participation. As members participate, the teacher sees what is really on their hearts.

Prepared & participating students As members participate, greater transparency and authenticity develops in the class. Someone shares what another needs to hear. Everyone contributes and helps to teach the lesson. Life changing, transformational teaching occurs.

Moving members into service. Develop members with crawl, walk, & run opportunities. Provide incremental responsibilities and activities that moves the member into service.

Yes…Serving in an organized class Is your class organized? Are members involved in the weekly leadership & administration of the class? Members will say “Yes” if a class is organized with a Great Commission emphasis and uses their gifts.

Yes…Serving in an organized class Structure your class leadership according to the size of its attending members. –Review suggested structures in Connect 3 : the power of one Sunday School class. All members are gifted to serve in the body. –Place members where they are best gifted to serve. Provide clear & meaningful duties.

Question? If each member in a class represents a Lego, can you connect with every member? “”You need a big group so you can say, I’m a part of something significant. But you can’t share prayer requests within a large group; you can’t pray for each other; you can’t even know everybody. So you need to be in a small group, also.” Rick Warren

Care Groups Connect Members in a class cannot connect directly with everyone. Members need direct connections so they can develop deeper transparent relationships for prayer, meeting needs, and fellowship.

Yes…Meeting/Training Strategies Teacher/worker commitment forms should include a promise to attend routine meetings & training. Church leadership shows their commitment to training. Include training in worker meetings. Offer multiple events during the year. Offer a variety of topics for training to help meet the needs of workers.

Yes…Meeting/Training Strategies Offer multiple nights for training and meetings. Remove excuses not to attend! Create an annual calendar for training. Get workers to commit to attend at least one training event per year. Follow up training with support & application.

Disciple Leaders say “Yes” when meetings and training have purpose and leaders are willing to invest in workers. “Yes” Principle #3

What is your greatest “Yes”? Review each of the three Yes’. –Making disciples –Serving disciples –Training disciple leaders Rate in a high (1) to low (3) order which of these need the greatest area of improvement. Work with your church’s leadership to create plans to address the greatest need.
