1. When water evaporates its PE goes up so the KE (and temp.) must go down. Evaporation is a cooling process. 2. When wax freezes its PE goes down so the KE (and temp.)goes up. 1. When you first touch the liquids they feel the same ….but after removing your fingers…… 2. The water cools quickly off. 3. The wax gets immediately hotter! You finger is above the freezing point of water but below the freezing point of wax. Water at body temperature evaporates readily.

Shows how wax molecules get closer together when they freeze thus PE goes down!
