2 The Dengue Vector Surveillance (DVS) website coverage was extended to cover nationwide implementation by CY 2013 The website shall serve as monitoring tool for dengue coordinators, city health officers and other public health practitioners The DOH has issued a Certificate of Availability of Funds amounting to P30,000,000.00 for the procurement of OL trap supplies (tumbler, pelllets and paddle) PCHRD has approved P12,996,642.00 and released to DOST-NCR project funds amounting to P8M for nationwide implementation Updates: Dengue Vector Surveillance (CY 2013 Implementation)

3 The following alert system was adopted (and reflected in the website) to harmonize with DOH dengue vector surveillance alert levels Updates: Dengue Vector Surveillance (CY 2013 Implementation) ColorAction to be taken White (OLI </= 20%) Continue IEC campaign on prevention and control Continue clean-up activities Continue monthly entomological survey by local health authorities Red (OLI > 20%) Intensify IEC campaign on prevention and control Mobilize residents of affected barangay and start clean-up campaign with the help of the Dengue Brigade Continue monthly entomological survey by local health authorities Improve environmental sanitation Start community vigilance; search for more areas w/ HI of > 5% and or BI is > 20 Apply larvicides

7 Status of Implementation Supplies have been delivered to schools in NCR, Cebu City and Davao City Program Launching and Press Conference was held last June 20, 2013 at Kamuning Elementary School and La Breza Hotel in Quezon City Delivery of supplies to other areas to commence on second week of August.

11 Issues and Concerns Sustainability beyond CY 2013 Terms of References/Clear Guidelines signed by participating agencies to get support in ground implementation The need for support from the RHUs which is devolved from the DOH and under the jurisdiction of local government units The need for Manual of Operations Problems encountered in SMS reporting  No confirmatory text received from system  Difficulties in sending data (invalid SMS, invalid formats)

12 Issues and Concerns Budget Constraints: Budget for traps and pellets from DOH is barely enough to cover black tumblers and 3 months supply of OL pellets
